Major in Russian Language and Literature
The program consists of 24 total hours of course work in the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures as specified:
- RUSS 3010, Third-Year Russian
- RUSS 3020, Third-Year Russian
- RUTR 3350, Nineteenth-Century Russian Literature
- RUTR 3360, Twentieth-Century Russian Literature
- 12 hours of course work at the 2000 level or above planned in consultation with the DUP.
Requirements
- Major GPA of C, with no grade below C-
- A grade of C or above in all language courses
Major in Russian and East European Studies
This program is interdisciplinary and consists of 30 total hours of course work as specified:
- RUSS 3010 and RUSS 3020, Third-Year Russian or POL 1210 and POL 1220, Introduction to Polish Language in addition to Russian through RUSS 2020
- RUTR 2460, Civilization and Culture of Russia
- PLCP 3210, Russian Politics
- HIEU 2152, History of the Russian Empire 1700-1917 or HIEU 2162, History of Russia Since 1917
- RUTR 3350, Nineteenth-Century Russian Literature or RUTR 3360, Twentieth-Century Russian Literature
- Three hours in Russian or East European folklore
- 9 hours ONLY-3 of which may be in the department. Consultation with DUP is required.

How To Declare a Major
- Contact Mark Elson, Director of Undergraduate Programs (DUP), for an advising appointment.
How To Make Corrections to SIS Prior to Graduation
- Send an email to Mark Elson, Director of Undergraduate Programs (DUP), clearly identify any degree requirement(s) that remain unmet. The email must specify the course(s) the student is requesting to apply toward satisfying the outstanding requirement(s). If the request is approved, Professor Elson will notify Slavic Administration, who will then update the student's academic requirements in SIS accordingly.
